B&E, Larceny Suspect Arrested in Burke Co. 5/12/2010 9:07:56 AM
29-year-old Dallas Junior Benfield of 5283 Hayes Water Road in Morganton was arrested last Thursday and charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and possession of stolen goods.
During the months of February and April, Detectives with the Burke Co. Sheriff’s Office investigated numerous break-ins to residences, motor vehicles and storage buildings in the Hayes Water Road area of Burke County.
Detectives developed several suspects in the Hayes Water Road area. On May 5, Detectives received information that Dallas Junior Benfield was seen removing tools and various items from a mobile home located off Hayes Water Road.
On May 6, Detectives went to 5283 Hayes Water Road and received consent from the homeowner to search the residence. The search turned up stolen property from at least eight different victims. Benfield was located in a storage building at Silver Creek Estates on Jamestown Road in Morganton where he was placed under arrest.
Benfield has been confined in the Burke County Jail under $13,500 secured bond. He was scheduled to make a first court appearance this past Monday. Benfield is also an absconder from probation on unrelated charges and faces additional charges for probation violations.
